1、継承語コース:ご家庭で日本語を話されている生徒対象。授業は日本のテキスト及び教科書を使い、日本語のみで行われます。ご家庭での宿題等のサポートが必要です。

2、第二外国語コース:すべての生徒対象。テキストは主に英語で書かれている物を使用。授業は英語、日本語両方で行います。

Our Heritage Japanese Courses are taught entirely in Japanese and are intended for students  from Japanese-speaking households. Classes for students learning Japanese as a Foreign Language (JFL) may include instruction in English, depending on students’ abilities and objectives.

1. 継承語コース Heritage Japanese Courses  

K, G1-G8 classes (Friday,  7:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.)
These classes are taught entirely in Japanese. Lessons include fun yet challenging activities including learning Hiragana in K classes along with reading, writing, speaking and listening Japanese skills in G classes. Note that parents are expected to help their children with homework in these courses and must speak and write Japanese fluently.

2. 第2外国語コース Japanese as a Foreign Language (JFL) Courses

JSA, JSB, Youth1-4 classes (Friday, 7:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.)
These classes teach Japanese as a foreign language and may include instruction in English. Nihongo Kazoku is used as the textbook in both GS classes, Adventure 1 is used as the textbook in Youth 1 and 2 classes and Adventure 2 is used as the textbook in Youth 3 and 4 classes.

3. Adult Classes (For students 18 years old and older)

L1-L5 classes (Thursday or Friday  7:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.) *important: ADULT1 and ADULT2 classes are IN-PERSON lessons on Fridays. ADULT3 AND ADULT4 classes are ON-LINE lessons on Thursdays for 2023-2024school year.

These courses provide systematic Japanese instruction. They focus on enabling students to communicate in Japanese with clear, proper pronunciation. Textbooks and materials are included.
